and a state trooper pulled me over. It was early one day, before lunch, and took the Z for a spin down the road on a loop that takes me on the interstate to the next exit and back home on secondary roads. Got behind 2 state troopers just before the on-ramp to the interstate. We get on the interstate and they are going 65 in a 70. No traffic. I ease out and start to pass them. By the time I pass the one in front, I'm going 72 in a 70. I no more than get past his front bumper and he hits lights and siren. I pull over and he approaches on the passenger side asking for license, registration, insurance. Doesn't even ask if I knew how fast I was going, because we both know that would be a stupid question. He asks what the hurry is, and I say "oh, no hurry really". Goes back to his car, talks to his buddy that pulled over behind him. After a few minutes he comes back and says he's going to let me go and I need to slow it down. The last thing he said was "Next time maybe you'll think twice before passing a state trooper!" Strangest thing. I'm serious, I wouldn't have tried to pass them if they weren't going under the speed limit, and I was only going 2 over (trying to pass them) when he pulled me over. The other guy with him just hung back the whole time and leaned against his buddies car. I think he knew it was BS too.
-------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------- Conversation between my sister and my wife (shortly before we got married): Wife: "You know, sometimes I think he loves that Z more than he does me." Sister: "He probably does, and as long as you're okay with that, everything will be fine." |
